I’m Johnathan Powell; I teach the Middle School Bible class and serve as our Middle School Faith Lead. For the past 11 years, I’ve had the privilege of working full-time in education. This is now my 8th year at Aug Prep, and I can honestly say there’s nowhere else I’d rather be. I’m passionate about what I do because I get to witness firsthand the incredible journey of students as they grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. It’s truly the best job in the world. Outside of school, you can usually find me writing, spending quality time with family and friends, or diving into podcasts and current events to stay engaged with the world around me. Being part of the Aug Prep family has been one of the greatest blessings of my life, and I’m excited for all that lies ahead!
This week’s chapel focused on the message of having strength from within. Mr. Powell led this devotion based on the Scripture foundation of Galatians 5:22-23. “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives and self-control."
We celebrated Hispanic Heritage month by serving our scholars churros on Wednesday along with having intentional cultural learning activities in our extended Wednesday morning advisory time. This was a great time to celebrate all of our kids accomplishments during the first quarter while serving them a special surprise treat. Special thanks to El Rey Family Market, located at 5200 W. Oklahoma Ave., for their contribution during the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.
I hope that you had a restful, blessed fall break. We are very excited to start the second quarter and continue to do everything we can for your scholar to meet their immense potential academically, socially-emotionally and spiritually. I also wanted to say thank you for the tremendous parent/teacher turn-out that took place last Wednesday night and Thursday morning. We had over 80% attendance at conferences which surpassed our goal. We are truly blessed to have your support and welcome your partnership as we educate your child. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s advisory teacher if you have any further questions as they are the go to staff for our families. I look forward to continuing to share all of the great things your scholar is doing each day!
Mi nombre es Johnathan Powell; enseño la clase de Biblia en la escuela intermedia y tengo el honor de servir como Líder de Fe. Llevo 11 años dedicándome por completo a la educación, y ya son 8 maravillosos años en Aug Prep. Honestamente, no hay otro lugar donde preferiría estar. Amo lo que hago porque puedo ver de cerca cómo los estudiantes crecen en su relación con Jesús. Es un privilegio increíble y el mejor trabajo que podría tener. Cuando no estoy en la escuela, disfruto escribir, compartir tiempo con mis seres queridos y mantenerme al tanto del mundo a través de pódcasts y temas actuales. Ser parte de la familia Aug Prep ha sido una de las mayores bendiciones de mi vida, ¡y estoy muy emocionado por todo lo que viene!
Durante la capilla de esta semana, reflexionamos sobre el poder de tener fuerza interior. El Sr. Powell guió la devoción inspirada en Gálatas 5:22-23, donde leemos:
“Pero el Espíritu Santo produce en nosotros este fruto... y el dominio propio.”
El miércoles celebramos el Mes de la Herencia Hispana compartiendo churros con nuestros estudiantes y realizando actividades culturales durante el tiempo extendido en su salon hogar. Fue un momento muy lindo para reconocer los logros de nuestros estudiantes en este primer trimestre y sorprenderlos con un dulce detalle.Queremos dar un agradecimiento especial a El Rey Family Market, ubicado en 5200 W. Oklahoma Ave., por su apoyo y contribución a esta hermosa celebración.
Espero que haya tenido un descanso de otoño lleno de paz y bendiciones. Iniciamos con mucha energía este segundo trimestre, comprometidos a seguir ayudando a su hijo/a a crecer y alcanzar su máximo potencial en lo académico, emocional y espiritual. También quiero agradecerles por la gran asistencia a las conferencias de padres y maestros del miércoles y jueves pasados. ¡Tuvimos más del 80% de participación, superando nuestra meta!
